Recently, Hog Roast Loughborough team were hired by a local client, the Loughborough University, to help them host their event. The event was hosted by the Loughborough University’s Students’ Union at the Union Building on the campus. The students were hosting the event for the union’s fantastic award night and so it was a special occasion with a large number of guests.
The union selected a classic hog roast selection for their catering option and requested for the food to be served as a buffet. A whole roasted hog was served as the buffet’s centrepiece and was cooked to perfection in one of the team’s Hog Master machines to create some delicious crispy crackling. In addition, the Hog Roast Loughborough team also provided homemade stuffing and hand crafted apple sauce to help give the meat an extra punch. The meat was cooked by the team’s head chefs for several hours and seasoned thoroughly before it was roasted. For the vegetarian students, the Hog Roast team served grilled vegetable and haloumi skewers served on fresh pitta breads alongside a tzatziki dip. All of the food was served alongside fresh breads rolls and wraps to ensure that a casual atmosphere was maintained through the food.
The service was for 280 people and so it was important that the Hog Roast Loughborough team remained consistent with the food and ensure that it was of all the high standard that the hog roast team usually uphold. The food was served between 7pm and 7:45pm so it was important that the team met this tight deadline to ensure that the rest of the evening could run on the pre-planned time schedule. In addition, the client was looking at executing a 30 to 45 minute service so it was crucial that the Hog Roast Loughborough team had all the food cooked and plated on the buffet table at 7pm so that the guests could begin service straight away. The service itself was led by the Hog Roast team’s head chefs, Lee, Russ and Chris, who make a fantastic trio and did a great job on this event.
