‘Tis the season we’ve all been waiting for, and last week saw Hog Roast Kegworth travelling further afield than usual when we were invited to help global food giant, Kellogg’s pull off their annual Christmas lights switch-on party which the staff at their manufacturing plant eagerly await each year. Intending to up their game for this year’s festivities, the company had asked us to serve one of our delicious hog roast menus with enough food for the 500 guests who were expected to attend the occasion – and we’re pleased to say they couldn’t have come to a better place!
With Manchester’s famous ‘Zippy’ Santa fully settled in his new home at the Trafford Park site after being relocated from the main square, our team immediately knew that they had arrived at the right place; and with little time to waste they began preparing the classic hog roast feast. Taking charge of the large-scale event, catering manager Lee ensured that both serving stations were set-up in a timely manner, giving the team plenty of time to slow roast both pigs that had been evenly scored and rubbed down with salt to create a layer of crispy crackling.
As the meat sizzled away in our Hog Master Pro cooking machines, the catering crew seized their window of opportunity to prepare the vegetarian and vegan-friendly alternatives of grilled vegetable skewers with optionable haloumi along with the inclusive sides of golden chips and gluten-free rolls. On top of the food, Hog Roast Kegworth had also prepared a drinks package which offered the guests a variety of options from soft drinks to steamy hot chocolate.
The evening was a huge success and as the guests watched in amazement as the fireworks launched into the night sky, they were grateful of the piping hot hog roast which allowed them to experiment with a variety of irresistible flavour combinations. But despite the hype the event had received, there were far fewer attendees than what was originally expected which meant there were a lot of leftovers. Not wanting the food to go to waste, Kellogg’s chose to donate the remainder of the buffet to a local homeless shelter and after clearing up the event, Hog Roast Kegworth delivered 250 bread rolls along with an abundance of meat to a grateful centre.
