Since the business first launched back in 1799, Greene King Pubs have established over 2,700 pubs, restaurants and hotels across the UK, and today they are celebrated as being the country’s leading pub retailer and brewer. One of the many things attributed to their ever-growing success as a business is the rewarding work environment in which the employees’ function; and each year the franchise invites managers from up and down the country to an awards event which sees the most talented leaders take home coveted prizes and trophies. For this year’s ceremony, Hog Roast Rothley was asked to handle all of the catering – and with 500 people to feed, the team certainly had to bring their A-game!
With the aim of making everyone feel welcome and included at the event, Hog Roast Rothley had recommended our classic hog roast menu with added vegetarian and vegan alternatives which the client was very happy to go ahead with. Also on the menu for this occasion were some of our complementary accompaniments that include gluten-free and soft floured rolls and wraps, a diverse range of condiments and homemade tzatziki dip which helped to add depth and flavour variation to the traditional feast.
On the day of the awards ceremony, the catering crew arrived at the famed Leicestershire country house hotel, Rothley Court, where they wasted no time in getting started on preparing the meaty menu. To ensure there would be more than enough food for all 500 guests, the team began slow roasting a few large pigs which they had rubbed down with salt and evenly scored to create a layer of mouth-watering crackling that our feasts are renowned for, before nestling them among the sage and onion stuffing for extra flavour.
As the team lovingly prepared the tantalising feast, time seemed to fly by and before anyone knew it, the guests and nominees had begun arriving. Whilst the awards were given out, Hog Roast Rothley added the finishing touches to the meaty feast and when the serving time finally rolled around, the attendees eagerly piled their plates high with as much of the juicy meat, veggie skewers and breads as they could get their hands on.
