With the sun shining bright and the days growing longer, it might feel like summer has already arrived. However, the official start of everyone’s favourite season is still a few weeks away. On the 20th of June, the Summer Solstice heralds the beginning of summertime, a tradition steeped in history and celebration.
Since neolithic times, people have marked the Summer Solstice with grand festivities, including roaring bonfires, singing, dancing, and outdoor feasts. This year, local not-for-profit farm owner, Rebecca, is reviving this ancient tradition with a spectacular event aimed at connecting modern-day revellers with Mother Nature.
Rebecca’s vision for the Summer Solstice celebration includes activities like flower-crown-making workshops, meditation exercises, and spiritual dancing, all leading up to a feast at sundown. And who better to handle the culinary delights for this alfresco banquet than Hog Roast Asfordby?
When Rebecca approached us with her plans, we were thrilled to be a part of such a meaningful event. With 275 out of 350 tickets already sold, anticipation is building for an unforgettable day!
Hog Roast Asfordby’s catering manager, Byron, has been hard at work collaborating with Rebecca to create the perfect menu for the occasion. The client’s preference leans towards our iconic BBQ Menu, perfectly suited to the relaxed and laid-back atmosphere Rebecca hopes to cultivate.
From handmade beef burgers and delicious sausages to chicken kebabs and sticky spare ribs, our menu showcases the finest free-range meats, ensuring a farm-to-fork dining experience like no other. And for our vegetarian companions, Hog Roast Asfordby offers delicious options like veggie burgers and BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls.
To complement these main dishes, we’ll be serving up seasonal green leaf salads, pasta salads with mixed roasted vegetables, and a tempting array of classic and sweet potato fries; all presented on rustic wooden bamboo plates with matching cutlery, adding to the charm of the event.
